Why Didn't My Recipe Import?

Most recipes import in seconds, but sometimes a page or post can't be read. Here are the most common reasons and what you can do.

The page doesn't contain a full recipe

MealBuddy needs a recipe name, a list of ingredients and the steps. If a post only shows the finished dish, or the recipe is only spoken in a video without any text, the import can fail. Pages that collect many recipes, like a "best pasta recipes" overview, also can't be imported as one. Open the single recipe and share that link instead.

The website doesn't allow imports

Some websites block recipe imports. If you see a message that a site doesn't allow recipe imports, take a screenshot of the recipe and use Scan a photo instead.

Instagram stories

Instagram stories can't be imported. Share the post or reel instead, if the recipe is there.

You already saved this recipe

If you see "You already imported this recipe", it's already in your library. Search My recipes to find it.

You reached the daily limit

Free accounts can import a set number of recipes each day. If you reach it, you can import more the next day, or upgrade to MealBuddy Plus for unlimited imports.

What you share isn't supported

When you share into MealBuddy from another app, use a link or photos. Videos, PDFs and plain text without a link can't be imported.

Still not working?

Try Scan a photo with a screenshot of the recipe, or Describe a recipe to let Buddy write it from what you remember. If an import keeps failing, contact us from Profile > Help and include the link, so we can take a look.
