Editing, Adapting and Cooking Your Recipes

Every recipe in MealBuddy is yours to change. Open a recipe from the Recipes tab to edit it, adapt it to your table or start cooking.

Editing a recipe

Tap Edit recipe to change the name, servings, prep and cooking time, difficulty, ingredients and steps. You can drag steps into a new order. You can also:

  • Rename recipe to give it a name you'll recognize
  • Add your own notes in Your notes, only visible to you
  • Add or remove photos
  • Open View source to go back to the original page or post

Changing servings

Use the + and − buttons to cook for more or fewer people. The ingredient amounts change with the number of servings.

Adapting a recipe with Buddy

Want it vegan, gluten-free, higher in protein, quicker or cheaper? Tap Adapt this recipe and tell Buddy what you'd like, by typing or by voice. Buddy shows you what changed before you decide. Then choose:

  • Save as a new recipe to keep the original as it is
  • Replace this recipe to update the original

Adapted recipes are marked as AI adapted. To use Buddy for adapting, you need to allow sharing your diet with Buddy (see "Your Diet, Allergies and What Buddy Knows").

Nutrition and allergens

Recipes show calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving. These values are estimates. If you've told Buddy about your allergies or intolerances, MealBuddy points out ingredients that match them. Always check the ingredients yourself if an allergy is serious.

Cooking mode

Tap Start cooking to follow the recipe step by step while you cook.

Deleting a recipe

Tap Delete recipe to remove it. This removes it from all your lists, including lists you share with others. To delete several recipes at once, select them in your library and tap Delete.
